Designs by Migmar Tsering have sold worldwide in stores like Le Bon Marche, Barneys New York, Louis Boston, Browns Focus, Marui and Fred Segal, to name a few. Since the launch of Pema label, Migmar has produced unique and fun designs in hand knit woolen accessories with people who really need help in under developed parts of the world.
The two keys to Migmar’s approach are:
The Pema knits are hand knitted in the Himalayas by grandmas and moms whilst passing the skills to the next generation. Himalayan women are talented in knitting, as it is a favored pastime for them. The ladies are trained to knit with different techniques at the main factory and then, once familiar, they are able to take the work back to their homes and knit while spending valuable time with their family.
By working with and investing in the people of the Himalayas, Migmar feels that he can do two good things; one is to help them and give hope and improvements in their lives, and second is to create hand knits at affordable price.
Pema knits are created using New Zealand wool and often include a cashmere lining to give an even more comfortable and warmer feel during those long cold winters. Some designs are perfect for those fun ski holidays with family and friends.
When you wear a Pema, remember we are working to knit enduring values into the fabric of fashion. There is no greater luxury in fashion than wearing beautiful clothes with a clear conscience.
